Be Where Your Feet Are
Sports taught me that the journey matters as much as the destination. In business, we're always chasing results – but what if we slowed down and engaged in the process instead? When you're fully present in the small daily tasks, the big moments take care of themselves. Enjoy the journey. It produces great results.

I started out as a coach and a teacher. I believe that sports can teach us a lot about business.
First thing – start every day with a positive listen or read. I listen to Brian Cain at Mental Performance Daily. Today his podcast was titled Fully Engaged. I thought it could be applied to my business and life as well as sports. He broke down the book Fully Engaged by Thomas Sterner. Take a listen here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/mental-performance-daily-with-brian-cain/id1578012159?i=1000756711931
Brian says, “Life is practice. See, most people treat practice as the thing you endure so you can perform, but Sterner and the best coaches ever run around, they flip that. They say the moment you stop rushing towards results and start engaging in the process itself, everything changes.”
It is about changing the narrative of practice and recognizing it's a journey. The practice shouldn't be frustrating or impatient. Change your mindset – be where your feet are instead of trying to be where you are going. In the trainings I give, I always talk about being Feet First. Where your feet are facing is what you are paying attention to. It changes the mindset.
This is applicable to building a business as well. We want the end results and just process through the "getting there." What if we started to enjoy the journey? How much more productive would we be? How much happier would we be? How much easier would it be?
I think a lot. The practicing, the daily routine, the paperwork – slow it down. Be present in those small tasks so that when you are executing the job, you can do it well. We don't rise to the occasion – we sink to our daily training. Get in the mindset – enjoy the journey – it will produce great results.
